Dourthe No.1

Rating: 17
Tasting Notes:
An excellent, characteristic Bourdeaux wine. Medium body, well-balanced, excellent finish. Rounded tannins, currants, smooth smokey flavor. One of the best we tried this week. Though we ate it with an amazing mustard rabbit dish which probably helped bolster the tasting experience. Highly recommended!

Goundrey Offspring Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Rating: 15
Tasting Notes:
A nice Cab from Australia, very rich and full in the mouth, nice balance, medium finish. We tasted vanilla, a little spice. It's lasted three days so far in our wine cooler. A little sweeter than we expected, but would be amazing with red meats and heavy cheeses, especially stinky ones. It was great with a raclette!

How do we rate wines?

We try to keep track of all the wines we drink, but as winos... you know it's difficult.

Our scale is based on 20 points. 20 is the best. 16 is the median. 10 is about as low as we go in terms of bothering to taste it and not spitting it out.

Our goal for this blog is to catalog/taste as many of the wines in Quebec (local and through public outlets) as possible, though sometimes we might stray geographically.

Enjoy!

Mas de Forton

Another good value wine. 'Mas' means 'domaine' in the langue d'Oc. Nice balance, tastes like cherries to start after 30 minutes the flavor changes to prunes. Well balanced, great with red meat, a long finish.
